The Spa Centre are delighted to announce that local performer Jamie Sheerman will be appearing in their spectacular family panto Beauty and the Beast this Christmas.
Beauty and the Beast will mark Coventry lad Jamie’s sixth professional pantomime, but this will be his first for the Spa Centre. Jamie says “I have seen many shows at the Spa Centre but I have never had the opportunity to perform there so I am very excited about it. It will also be great being close to home for Christmas as not only will I get a home cooked Christmas dinner but lots of my friends and family will be able to come and see me in the show.”
“I have played both comic and baddie roles in panto but in this show my character is the baddie’s sidekick, so I get the best of both roles. I love getting laughs from panto gags, the improvised banter with the audience and slapstick routines and I also love to be the mischief maker who gets ‘booed’ so a combination of both is perfect!”
Panto is generally the busiest time of year for regional theatres and Jamie believes its popularity is down to the fact that “It’s fun for all the family and it takes its place in the build up to Christmas! Audiences come from all backgrounds, traditions and range from toddlers to grannies and everyone has a great time!”
Recently Jamie has been appearing at the Belgrade Theatre as Julian Marsh in 42nd Street as well as performing many solo gigs and appearing with his band throughout the Midlands.
Steve Boden, Managing Director of Imagine Theatre, consultants to Warwick District Council on the show says “Having worked with Jamie on many occasions we know what a versatile performer he is and his comic talent makes him ideal for the silly character of Pimple.”
Beauty and the Beast runs from Saturday 3 to Saturday 31 December 2016 and with some performances already sold out we recommend booking quickly for this magical festive treat.
